Spiritual Development

Carol Wheeler Bond, R.N. – a blessing

Treat Yourself Kindly Today

You give so much to others
As you go about your day
Lifting hearts that are grieving
Or heavy laden with fear and woe

You light the darkness amidst the pain
Of disease, depression or sorrow
Easing their despair with your warmth
Believing when they aren't able.

You enter the realm of the suffering
Embracing their need with care
Comforting broken minds and bodies
With the Spirit of hope that is you

You sit with the dying on their last journey
Validating their life with dignity and compassion
Providing forgiveness and release of their soul
For gentle passing into the Eden of their belief.

You share so much of yourself with others
As you go about your life's involvement
May you take time to replenish your essence
And drink fully from the springs of the Spirit.

Carol Wheeler Bond received her RN from Bethany Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City, Kansas in 1964. She is married to Rev. Cliff Bond. In addition to being a pastor’s wife, she was also busy as a mother to their three growing children. Her second child died at birth in 1966 due to multiple birth defects. Her professional experience as a nurse includes working at Emory Rehab Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Head Nurse on Extended Care at Piedmont Hospital in Georgia, counselor/nurse in a cataract surgeon’s office and surgery suite, TB Nurse Specialist in Public Health, Director of Nursing at a rural hospital, geriatric nurse in a nursing home and State of Kansas nurse reviewer of long term care facilities. Currently, she is retired from nursing, choosing instead to provide child care for her daughter’s two sons who are in grade school and emotional support to her chaplain husband who ministers in various capacities in the Topeka/Lawrence areas.
