Managers of Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Programs

There are unique responsibilities, challenges and joys in the professional life of managers of pastoral care and chaplaincy programs in hospitals and health care facilities around the world. Whether the team be comprised mostly of volunteers or professional staff, or some combination thereof (like where I work) regardless, it is important for department managers to be of support to each other. A new Linked-in group has formed to facilitate effective networking - especially for those of us who function as both an administrator and a chaplain/pastoral care practitioner among patients or clients.

My vision for this group? To be a supportive connecting place between annual conferences, to help each other address common challenges, share ideas and best practices e.g. research strategies, tips for advocacy, ways to raise visibility for pastoral care, effective fundraising strategies for program development, and the like; we could e even conduct discussion on key issues such as how to best recruit good quality pastoral carers from the community to assist the process, or how to best "release" them when someone behaves badly...the sky is the limit.

http://tinyurl.com/2vnfmoh is the place to go if you are already a member of LinkedIn. If not, but you meet the criteria, then it will be well worth your time to sign up at http://www.linkedin.com/
